NRG Energy

NRG Energy utilised the services of Discovery Training Pty Ltd to develop Routine Maintenance Logbooks for their Mobile Plant and also to develop Training Packages associated with their Key Safety Issues.

Over the past 5 years, Dave has been working with 4 different areas of the Power Station Maintenance and Operations Departments in Capturing Knowledge from their workforce.

With many in the workforce rapidly approaching retirement, NRG have found, like many other Australian businesses, that the quality of documentation for the the tasks undertaken in the day to day operation and maintenance of their equipment, have not been maintained as well as the equipment. Modifications to the plant and changes to the way it is maintained has not been given the same attention as the equipment as these changes have not been effectively documented.

Dave starts by reviewing any existing procedures and then he works with the employees as they undertake the task. With the addition of photographs, schematics and additional data, the new procedure is developed so that future employees can effectively undertake the tasks in a safe and efficient manner. This is particularly important for inspections and tasks that are only completed on extended time-frame situations.

When the long-term employee retires or leaves for other reasons, their knowledge does not walked out of the gate with them.
